Sun Protection

Protection for your lips, whatever the season

Whatever the season, it is important to take care of your lips, and daily care will help you keep them from cracking and chapping all year round.

Lips need protection everyday. Ultraviolet (UV) rays are always present, whether it is December or July. Although the level of burning UVB rays declines substantially in cooler months, harmful UVA rays remain at relatively constant levels throughout the year. Lips can suffer even on cloudy days since clouds don’t filter UVB rays.

We all know that the Australian sun is a major cause of skin cancers – and our lips are not immune. In fact, they need more protection than other parts of your body, and lips rarely get the help from sunscreens that your arms and legs do.

Outdoor protection for every season

Whether you’re headed to the park, the beach, the pool or even the snow, don’t forget to protect your lips. The sun is reflected off sand and water, intensifying its burning effects, and the same is also true for snow. Snow reflects nearly 80% of the sun’s rays. Exposure at higher altitudes (like when you’re skiing) also creates an increased hazard, since the air is thinner and screens less of the sun’s rays.

Blistex Ultra Lip Balm SPF 50+ is perfect for all types of outdoor activity, as it is a very high protection sunscreen.

Just because you don’t see a surface burn on your lips doesn’t mean that the underlying layers haven’t been harmed! When unprotected lips are exposed to too much sun, the collagen changes, causing lips to wrinkle and fine lines to form around the mouth. Even when lips show no physical signs of the sun’s effect, damage can occur.

So this year, don’t leave your lips to the mercy of the elements. Whatever the season brings, there is a Blistex to moisturise and help protect your lips. Because beautiful, healthy looking lips want Blistex care everyday of the year!

Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. Reapply frequently.
